Depends on what you want. Quite a few in Mojacar advertising already!!! It's hard to think about Christmas when it's still 30° but hey ho. On VP the Lua is usually open Christmas but not new year. Ya Ho Puerto Rey is open Christmas day and New Years Eve. Great value New Year usually around 50/60 euros and included drinks and entertainment. The Gateway to India does something similar I am told. If your looking for traditional turkey etc best head up Mojacar many restaurants up there do one.

Don't think the buses run on Christmas day and as for new years eve forget it!!! The buses do run NYE but the last bus is around 9pm (as is the case all year round other than peak season ie mid June to early Sept).

Personally speaking I haven't had much luck with taxis over here. Things may have changed but in the past have had issues for example getting a taxi from Vera Playa to Mojacar pueblo one night but the driver said he couldn't return to collect us as we would have to use a Mojacar taxi he couldn't come out of his zone, (and this was after we'd given him a decent tip). Another same issue going to Villaricos. This was a few years ago and things may have changed, you do see more taxis about these days. We have had too many nights spoiled by going to Mojacar and having to wait absolutely ages, many calls etc. Now usually go in the car and have a designated driver.

Quick question where on Vera Playa are you going to be based? Buganvillas, near Consum, las Salinas? If you let me know I can perhaps let you know better somewhere local that will be open then you won't have to be reliant on taxis.

In that case Bernie I think you will find a lot of places nearby are open without having to go to Mojacar and bother with Taxis.
