Can someone please help me before i explode !! I am trying to phone up Orange to cancel my 4G as instructed by the store. None of the listed phone numbers work. The 1470 number is useless and the multi lingual number wont connect or advises me to call 1470. I just want to speak to someone to cancel it. Short of cancelling my direct debit instruction and waiting for them to call me i dont know what else to do. On the one occasion i did manage to speak with someone in the Vera store they advised me to call the number and request an email form to fill out which of course never turned up.

Someone help please before i go mad !!!

Rant over,

Cheers

Kev

If you cannot get through on the phone, what about texting.

If not write to them in Spanish and send it signature delivery.

State you are giving them one months notice and you are cancelling the direct debit.

Regardless of how long your contract is, the moment you signed a Direct Debit the conract in law automatically reverts to a ""one month notice contract".

Suppliers may insist you have a termed contract. Ignore this demand, they know what a Direct Debit contract is, they would be trying to con you.

I dismay at the number of people that believe they have to wait until a contract expires to leave, or worse calculate the months left and agree to pay!

If any does not believe this check with your bank, they will confirm.

Most people are unaware what their bank has to do with the suppliers bank and the indemnity that has to be agreed between both banks before any payment is made.

Thanks Rob, well I never knew that. Just shows how easy it is to get shafted by companies here. Will write my intentions down and ask the store exactly where to send it.

Thanks again

Hi Kev,

giving your letter to the Orange store is a suitable alternative in this case.

If possible use google translate to convert the contents of your letter into Spanish. (English letters cannot be used in evidence)

Best regards Al ( Rascalmate )

Thanks Al,will knock something together with google translate and see how far it gets me. This summer so far has been particularly bad for orange 4g bandwidth and can only see it getting worse unless they either update their infrastructure or have a rethink on the way they transmit their signals. Dont get me wrong, its tolerable out of season but these last two months have been horrific and doing the simplest things like opening a web page has become slow beyond belief. I think they are port throttling to spread the bandwidth amongst the masses :)

Thanks Kev,

yes bandwidth throttling is a common factor during the height of the season and common with many internet isp's.

That is why many advertise " up to " figures, these are the ones to avoid.

I hope too others  have learned about the contract con v direct debit.

Pleased to have helped, regards Al.

You might have got it sorted now but here is the Orange toll free customer service number: 900906121

Press 1 when instructed to speak to someone in English :)

Sometimes they can help other times they are useless.

I was receiving spamm calls trying to get me to switch to Vodafone after a few calls from the same number I blocked it only to receive a text message from Orange telling me I missed the call I had blocked! This went on all week and I called the above number explained the situation and asked them to stop sending me a text for a missed or blocked call as my phone is capable of listing missed calls and ignores blocked numbers. The person asked for my phone number and name and then told me they can not turn off texting! which made me question the logic of asking me for my name and phone number!! So now although I have the spamm number blocked I still have to pull off the road to find out I had a call from a blocked number

Hi Festus

Your bombardment of unsolicited calls is alarming. Its illegal even in Spain, but for us Brits difficult to deal with within the Spanish system.

Try Call Blocker an app. I found it 100% successful of blocking calls and messages. Beauty of the app it keeps records of all these company's attempts for you. Their Blacklist is 100% effective.

Regards Al

You can do it with the built in blocker on iPhones. Good for messages you know will be rubbish and calls from idiots selling you stuff you already have the intelligence to buy if you needed it in the first place. Sometimes they will use different numbers but your patience will pay off.
