We are planning to rent for at least six months from September 2020.  We are looking in the areas of Mojacar, Palomares, Garrucha, Valle de Este and Vera Playa.  Can anyone let me know which Town Halls the about areas come under.  Also is anyone aware of how many months need to be on a rental agreement in order to be listed on the padron in that area.  I have received conflicting advice so would appreciate if anyone has knowledge of this.

Valle del Este and Vera Playa definitely under Vera Ayuntamiento. I think rental has to be more than a short-term or holiday let, so more than 3 months.  “Long term rental” is more than 3 months here as after 3 months you must have Residencia to stay in Spain.

So any contract you get of 6 months or longer will be fine for Padrón and Residencia.  As long as you arrive before 31/12/2020, you will still eligible to obtain Residencia as an EU citizen and will have until 30/6/2021 to obtain it.

Thank you.  It all gets confusing at times.  We want to give ourselves plentry of time to look around and want to make sure that we are doing everything correctly.  Now just need a property.
