Probably the same reason why no Spanish speaking staff are employed in UK banks.

Bit different when english is generally regarded to be the universally common language of the world....
Jazus Biggles, I was just beginning to like you. There ain't that much difference to the amount of Spanish and English speakers in the world. I'll put a few inscriptions in Spanish on my new camper-caravan. Again I'll park it in a beach near you. Newsflash:- The bank in question is Spanish and is in Spain. I don't expect the staff in Irish banks to talk to me in Spanish. Worse again, I'm from an Irish speaking district in Ireland and even we can't get a bank official to speak to us in our native language. And I don't moan about it.
Keep turning over that new leaf you're on. Even Jenni likes you now; so do I.

Google translate is my friend, when my limited Spanish runs out. I was in Albox Cajamar last week and the young lady who speaks good English wasn't there. The guy who dealt with me had no English, so after a couple of minutes stumbling over my rubbish Spanish, Google Translate on the phone had it sorted in minutes.
