Hi, hope you are all keeping well.

We've decided to swap our Permanente Residencia for TIE. Thing is, when I try to make an appointment online in Almeria, I am only asked for one NIE number and name.  What do you do if you are a couple?  There weren't any appointments available earlier but I'll keep on trying.

Is it a case of making one, then another and hope they are at least on the same day? Or just go with the flow and take two available appointments even if they're days apart?

We got our appointments, my wife yesterday and me today, but my wife, being cheeky, told the chap (he was really nice) that it was a 180 km, two hour trip to get there, “no problem” he said, “tell your husband to come to the desk now”....... so we’re all sorted.

I’m not saying this is the norm, so good luck

Puff

We had to book two separate appointments,  same day but two hours apart.  This was Almería.  Knowing we were a couple, the CNP officer at the desk saw us one after another

Finally got our appointments, five days apart but will see if they do us on the same day 😏

Another question.. Will we get our cards the same day or will we have to go back for them?

You’ll have to return in 3 to 4 weeks for the cards.  They will give you a piece of paper with the date on that you MUST produce when you return to collect them - keep those pieces of paper safe.

Thanks Dario.  I've got a horrible feeling I've made appointments for the wrong thing!  I selected 'policia exp tarjeta asociada alacuerdo de retirada ciduadaros britanicos y sus familiares (brexit).  Have I done it wrong?

I think that is for new arrivals pre 31/12 - the option you’d need is “Cambiar tarjeta) or similar.  You will also need a Modelo 790-012 NOT the Mod 790-052 which new arrivals use.  Fee is 12,00€ each and you fill in an EX-23, not an EX-20 ....

Hi,

Do you need to exchange the green residencia card for the new TIE, or can one just continue to use this,

We have been here for 21 years and have been resident all that time initially renewing every few years until i got the A4  green form, never had a new tarjeta, but there is no need to get a TIE (or whatever it is called) if you have the green one and at my age now I'm not traipsing all the way to Almeria unnecessarily.  You seem to be having a lot of hassle.  Rather you than me.   Good luck.

Thank you, that's all I needed to know.

No traipsing to Almeria for us then! 😊
