Having had a casa in Southern Almeria for last 20 years have used Malaga 99% of the time. With Malagacar.com and Centauro which we found excellent . Wouldn't fancy the 3 hour drive now we are moving up the coast.

Thank you for your post.

Hi ,

Perhaps you can help me as I'm looking to visit Mojacar area in October. Will be flying into Almeria so I wonder if you would have any recommendations for car hire at that airport.

Thanks in advance

If you need a car from arrival to departure , probably Goldcar from the airport but strongly recommend you take out the Goldcar all inclusive no excess fully comp insurance. They do not have good reviews but if you take their full insurance you should be ok. There is very little choice at Almeria airport . If you just need a car for a few days while in Mojácar, book the exclusive shuttle bus transfer and hire car locally. E.g. MoCar or Andalus or Costa Coches

Used Almeria very little mainly due to the car hire prices which I found very expensive. Friends of ours who fly in to Almeria from UK use Alboran Autos and find them good. I won't be able to use Almeria anyway now Ryanair have pulled their Dublin flights.

Didn't know Ryanscare even flew into Alicante.

O'Really, probally blaming the lack of airplanes or some such . I can't help laughingthough I always hear Fr. Jack ''that gobshite again he's never off the air'' when I hear about Mick the rick and his scareline.

Thank you for your comments. I presume that you mean Almeria and not Alicante in your opening line. Ryanair have been flying summer schedule twice a week into Almeria for a long number of years now. And yes you are correct in saying a lack of planes has contributed to this decision. Boeing are behind with their delivery of aircraft to Ryanair. That and the fact that unfortunately the transport portfolio wthin the group of clowns otherwise known as the Irish coalition government is held by a Green Party minister who will not resolve the issue of increasing the passenger cap at Dublin Airport which is about to be reached.Very anti flying is this minister except of course  for this week when he heads off to Brazil for his St Patricks day jolly. Obviously couldn't get there in time on his bicycle.

You appear to have an issue with OLeary and his airline. As a fellow Irish man who regularly paid Aer Lingus 250 pounds one way  in the 80s ( equivalent of  approx 1000 euro now a days)  to travel Dublin /London I would be a supporter of Ryanair. OLeary brought cheep air travel to the masses. 180 million passengers  can't all be wrong. He also pays his  taxes in Ireland unlike some other of our " heroes" e.g Bono.

I note your location is Mojacar. Would be more than happy to sit with you over a cup of tea to discuss this.🙂

Là Maith agat🙂
