Hi All
Just had a architects survey of a property we are buying. Its in Los Carrascos. The villa has a cesspit, its on urbanised land and the sewers are in the road. My question is how do you go about connecting your property to the main sewage line? Does the council do this or do you arrange yourself? I appreciate there will be a cost so has anyone else done this and what was the charge?

You get it done yourself. Cesspits (pozo negra) are very common here, a lot of properties still have them. Connections are carried out by registered contractors after obtaining a licence from the council (they will get that)
We used Plumbing and Drainage solutions, a local company with a very good reputation. Cost is dependent on the amount of work to get from the pozo to the ubend in the road outside. If you want a ballpark figure contract Andy Venn on 0034 616 531 283

make sure that the sewer drain is connected to an outlet before you connect as some aren't!
