Just a question
Has anyone Bought rural land and then placed a static caravan on it?
If so any problems connecting services?

We wanted to do the same thing and were not successful. Start at the local town hall planning department for their policy. Normal seems to be no permanent housing on rural land. Any structure that has mains services will be deemed permanent. The councils don't appear to like any type of mobile home not even the new modular homes which I think are fantastic.
Good luck

So if you go solar for your electric and a couple of 1000 litre containers for your water, maybe that would work? I may be remembering wrong, but a long time resident told me if you owned the land for so many years you could erect a structure as long as it wasn’t connected to services? Don’t know how you’d get round septic tank? Not mains service?

The solar and water would probably work for you but the rules and regulations for septic tanks are very strict nowadays. You really need to speak with the local council if you want to be legal.
The first thing you need to know is if you can get permission to site the home. If you site without permission you'll leave yourself wide open to problems. If you get permission everything else is solvable.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
We wanted to buy and site on a piece of land on the edge of a village that had a ruin on it, had services easily connected and were refused as the home would not have foundations.
It's a minefield.
