Hi,

We bought a villa near Arboleas at the end of January, got residency, bought a car and went back to the UK to help our son who has taken over our business.

Then Coronavirus struck!!!!

We managed to get on one of the last flights back here on 20th March.

Partly because of the pandemic we have been unable to find out about a few things and would appreciate some advice.

1. Correas. We were given a key for a post box near our villa. I went to the Correas and they told me to make sure that all mail was addressed to the key number, not the villa. We haven’t had any mail so far at all.  The  “council tax”, electricity bills etc are set up on direct debit so are being paid. Our car is a new one and we were told that the first road tax was paid on purchase. I believe that this must be due now but again no bill.

Is there no way of tying the villa address to the box number?

2. Is there any way to get Amazon deliveries? I tried twice but they couldn’t find us!!!

Any advice will be much appreciated. We love it here but I think that we have been a little unfortunate on our timing.

Hi, welcome to Arboleas. We do not have a villa name and our post always turns up.You need the Buzon number and the Calle name.Try Total entertainment in Arboleas the will accept deliveries there for you. Just a thought try sending a letter to yourself and see if it arrives. Hope this helps.

Hello and thank you for your response. We have been putting the number of our villa instead of the buzon number so I expect that is where we have been going wrong?

I have contacted Total Entertainment and getting them to accept parcels.

Once again, thanks for your advice.

Hi Best advice I can give is use a English post box such as the Post Shop in Albox, they will accept all deliveries including amazon, very helpful and makes life so much easier. We also where given a key to a 'post box' it was a nightmare, very often the post was put in the wrong box, on 2 occasions bills were sent back and we ended up paying a fine.

Good luck  Jenni

I believed my one year old car was due for taxing. So I rang the garage I brought from and was told I should hear off the Town hall the end of may.

We are in the same situation, except that the advice we have received is that we may receive a reminder from the ayuntamiento, but that is essentially a courtesy.  It is the car owner's responsibility to go to the ayuntamiento to make payment before the 12th June.

I should add that I think payments are suspended at the moment, rather like ITV, however there will probably be quite a rush to sort them out when we reach "new normal".
