I’m no expert but Spanish electricity is around 220/240 volts so appliances will still work. Personally I use an adapter as this retains the fuse in the UK plug which you will loose if you replace with a Spanish plug. I’m sure some will have different views.

UK electricals work fine. Just bring lots of adapter plugs.
My only exception is an LED digital clock/radio which I bought in Australia in the 1980s and used ever since in the UK. Brought it over to Spain and now the timing is out by 10 mins a day. I believe it is something to do with the electricity supply frequency, probably as I am off grid.

I thought that would be the case we have friends in Portugal that just use extension leads for UK stuff and any new stuff is on local plugs.

We did, (and a LOT of adaptor plugs). Electrical goods are cheaper in England, especially judiciously sourced second hand ones. Everything worked fine except the electrical oven which fused the electricity, demanding too much power.

If you are going to be here permanently I would recommend just changing the plugs when you get here. If you think about it you will probably have 40_50 e!ectrical items so you would need a lot of adaptors. Only items you will really need them for is for items that have a charger plug so obviously they can't be changed. The electric system in the house will probably have circuit breakers on each circuit so will cut out immediately if there is a problem. Someone did say, and I don't know why, but it is better to leave an English plug on a vacuum cleaner.

Hi Ian,
The electricity supply here in Spain is exactly the same +/- about 5% which means all of your appliances will work correctly here.
I would also recommend that as soon as you can replace the UK plugs with Spanish ones rather than using 'Adapters'
'Adapters' or to use the correct terminology, Travel Plugs, are not intended for a long term or permanent solution. As the name says they are intended for short term use when you travel abroad on holiday.
I regularly reply to this specific question on here and other forums as I am a fully qualified electrician.
Many will and have previously disagreed with my advice and will say they have been using travel plugs for years.
So you have a choice, take the advice of someone who is professionally qualified to answer your question, or someone who thinks he/she knows better.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the info I would not feel right using travel plugs for a long period. We are thinking of renting for a while so it will only be for phone and tablet charging in the short term.

I enquired why they don't sell double ovens in Spain & was informed the electricity isn't up to it ?
