We found a black cat in really bad condition with one eye and with an old injury to leg. It is skin and bone and was lying in gutter. Brought him to apartment and gave him water and small amounts of cat food. Is eating and drinking and not afraid of us. Local vet told us to ring PAWS who said they can't help because of lock-down. Does anyone know if we can drive it to vet for prognosis whether to euthanase. Vets are open so assume they want to see animals! Otherwise if it survives, we will have to leave it on the streets when we return home on 30th March. Thanks.

if you can phone the vet and get an appointment you should go and it is an emergency so it should be ok with the police if they stop you.  If stopped have the spanish written down saying what you are doing and phone the vet to confirm it with them.  hope the poor cat is ok

We have been phoning the vet since yesterday afternoon. 4 times since 08.00 today. May have to look for another vet in the area. The cat is not showing any signs of sneezing etc but would like to get it seen in case of feline diseases where it would need to be out out of its misery. It is eating and drinking and getting more mobile. Also, if we nursed it through this how feasible is it to get a home with it's one eye and bad leg? A dilemma.

Found a vet (looks like they all open at 10). Have taken cat in and has been put out of his suffering. The cost was 110 euros. The was no other option.

You must have a good heart. Many thanks for ending the suffering of the poor creature.  Do look after yourself during these difficult days ahead.
