I'm not getting involved in semantics and while I'm not au fait with the vaccine penetration rate in Spain or the UK I can say that the situation in Ireland has gathered momentum. Over half the target population has already received at least one dose of AZ or Moderna or Pfizer or Johnson. The period between 1st and 2nd dose is being reduced from 12 weeks to something between 8 - 12 weeks, likely nearer 8.
Currently, most infections are within the 18 - 23 age group. Hotels opened for guests last Monday. All bars, restaurants, gyms, swimming pools are still 100% closed (exceptions are for guests in hotels with those facilities). The "R" rate is below 1 and reducing. In RoI current Hospital Patients figure due to Covid is running at around 120 and 30 in Intensive Care. Average Daily Infection rate is 440. But, there are pockets in the country that have higher statistics and are being monitored. The Indian and UK variants are being blamed for the daily infection rate being around the same for quite some time.
In Ireland, Us Oldies are beating the virus (hope I'm not talking too soon), but the Youngies for whatever reason are falling down on the job. Probably the modern reason for the quote:- Youth is wasted on the Young.
