That depends where and why they are asking to come in eg. If they are coming from a country that will persecute them if they return, then no I dont  object. I would object to people coming into the UK if they have a criminal record, war lords. etc. The people trying to living in Spain illega...

...l, the majority do not come from a country that will persecute them if they return, they are just lazy buggers who cant be bothered to get off their bums and get a job, so they come to live in Spain where they can hide, and many of them still claim UK benefits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That’s a change in tune Jenni. 😊 from some of them doing great work for charities ,and should get residencia to , now they are Lazy buggers  and hiding lol.

Hello Jack and Bluebolt,

Can I ask you a  question each, Jack, you say that people that have flouted the laws here will now have to move back, but how do you think the Spanish authorities  are going to find them??????

Bluebolt, you say ' people that have flaunted the rules will never know the advantages of holding a residencia card. Pray tell, what advantages, I am a resident all paid up and above board, the only advantage I have is free medical care, which the UK pay for, what am I missing out on.

Regards  Jenni

Sunshine Jenni.  Only sunshine.   Is it enough though to make up for the Mountains of problems they need to climb.  It’s not worth it for me. I’m Happy to just have 180 a year.

Yeh well, woman's prerogative to change her mind. But I still think the majority just want to live off other people, but I do know the 2 I know do excellent charity work.  Speak as I find.

Until they get stopped for a random check whilst driving

Or want to buy a new car.

Or want to rent somewhere, or sell a house, or buy a house or change electricity companies or pay IBI or some other tax or start a business or collect a parcel from the post office that requires ID ... or ... or ... or

The days of the Policia turning a blind eye are over.  Brit Nationals will be in the same category as any other Third Country National, their IDs and right of residency scrutinized.  That just hasn’t sunk in yet.  Too many still believe nothing will change and they can go on living their lives as before.

They are wrong.

You are indeed right I believe Dario, that being said they do not make it easy to get hold of your residency.  We for example bought property here in Spain some 6 years ago with the intention of retiring here, through out that period we have paid our ‘non resident’ taxes on the property.  We finally retired here in November 2019 and after having received the U.K. document (S1) applied, through our Lawyer, for residency in February this year.  Sadly along comes Covid 19 and the Country put into lock down 24 hours before we were due our appointment at the offices of the National Police Lorca.  When we, our Lawyer, was next able to get on line to register us the system of course had changed.  He was finally able to register us early August and yet here we are toward the end of November and we are still awaiting our appointment.  The Government web site tells us that our registration has been received and that hopefully means we are in the system.  There was me thinking that the French bureaucracy was difficult enough.  We have done all we can do now it’s just a waiting game I guess.

Covid has thrown everything into a spin, for sure.  If you are registered in the system, you'll doubtless receive your resolution before too much longer; then it's just a matter of getting an appointment for your TIE card(s), fingerprint and photograph then collect later .... well ... that's how it is in Almería leastways Andy, and I know each region does things differently - in any event, I'll stick my neck out and say it won't be much longer before your receive your resolution accepting you

My friends didn’t even own a house just rented till their purchase was settled. They only applied in May 20 for their residencia and picked it up last week.  I’m so sorry you are having a hard time but I wouldn’t worry as you have plenty of time as your application is in.
