Hello everybody.
I am 75 years old, and live alone.
Recently, I have considered solar energy on my house (free standing), and I wonder if, at my age, it will ever pay itself back.
I try to consume electricity as economically as possible, and my consumption is reasonable I think.

Hi. We've been looking into it as well and have worked out that if we install 12 panels at a cost of 7000 Euros it will take approximately 5 years to break even. Of course, if electricity prices continue to rise, it could be less than that

Do you know if there might be some kind of government grant to help towards the cost of solar installation?

I'm sorry, I don't know the specifics. I'm getting solar on my place, so was talking about it with them. Soon as they said the grant is only available for residents I lost interest. Think its well worth it though, something like 40%.

Hi, we had ours fitted in February this year. Ten panels fitted in a couple of hours and  a really clean installation. We are now set up to feed back our excess to the grid for credit. Cost us 5k and we are extremely pleased. Contact Ecocorp solar, they will advise you of the best system for you and provide a fantastic service. It is definitely worth doing.

A word of warning. Dont know the specifics of the law in spain or companies involved.

However in UK if looking for a morgage , " Are there Solar panels " is one of the first questions asked,

I believe many of the agreements  to supply into the grid are long term and this frightens mortgage lenders.

Not against them  BUT be aware. If looks too good to be true it probably is!
