SInce I can park my car on my premises, my (large) dog thinks he needs to urinate on it. It's a male dog, not (yet) neutered.
Putting a fence round the car is not possible. It really looks disgusting (it's a white car)
Does anybody know of a (car and pet friendly) product that will keep him away? Guarding the car is almost impossible (I can hardly keep an eye on it all day (and night) long.
TIA for advice.

Buy a good pair of strong boots and use.

Try using a weak solution of pine disinfectant and spray this around or on the car, don’t think it will affect the paintwork.  I think it is because he keeps smelling his own scent he will keep doing it while the smell is there, same thing used to happen with tomcats in our back garden in U.K., only there we used a weak solution of Jeyes Fluid and this worked really well, although the smell of that isn’t too pleasant, it doesn’t last too long.

Thanks. Spraying around the car is not possible since there is no hard foor, just gravel. Vinegar also seems to help, but I asked a body shop, and they advised against it.

Hi Polowonder.

Young dogs get bored easily.

Spray vinegar on the wheels and on the ground for 1 metre around the car. Repeat at least once a day for 2 weeks.

To enhance the effectiveness of this, place small treats in areas where it is acceptable for your dog to urinate. Locate them where your dog will have to work to get them and he will soon develop a better habit.

Good luck

This is quite a normal thing for dogs to do, having him neutered might help. All he is doing is marking his territory, I suggest a bucket of disinfectant to throw over the car where he wees every morning.

Jenny is right , once he’s neutered he won’t need to mark His territory.  You said spraying Round the car isn’t possible as no hard ground!  The gravel Will still absorb the vinegar or pine disinfectant ,I’m surprised you are not aware of just how strong the sense of smell is in a dog!
