I know it's late and people probably won't be able to give definite answers but we have to leave our current rental in Puerto Ray on Monday, collect keys from agent in Mojácar (plan hopefully in place for this as they are closed) and then drive to Valle del Este and drop off one car load then back to Puerto Ray to collect the rest of our things and back to Valle del Este..... Is this going to be classed as essential travel? Could we be stopped? Fined? Anything? We have paid out €1200 in rent and deposits we can't afford to book temporary accommodation to wait this out and I'm very very worried. Any info from anybody in the know would be very much appreciated. Thank you and stay safe.

Hi Anna.  We are in a similar position in 2 weeks so I would appreciate it if you could post any answers or post your experience after your move next week. Thanks,

It’s difficult to give you a definitive answer, but I’d suggest that as you no longer are able to stay at your current rental, it would be classed as essential travel.  Travel is permitted to return to your place of normal residence; if that is VdE, then that is where you have to go - they can’t very well send you back to somewhere that you are no longer entitled to reside.

Thank you, I have just been re-reading the rules and I was thinking this myself. I suppose we just cross our fingers and have our rental contract and emails relating to it to hand just in case.

Thanks again, it's nice to feel slightly reassured!

I’m sure that you’ll be okay.

I’m in a similar position. My current rental ends at the end of March and am going back to the UK by car. I ‘m hoping that they don’t have to extend the lockdown or whether I can drive up to Bilbao to catch the ferry

Thank you

I will post a quick update tomorrow but I'm trying to just be optimistic.

I will cross my fingers for you.

Good luck

I don't think this will be classed or defined as essential. The list is very specific, about travel needs. The police will make an example if stopped, and there can only be one person in the car, at any one time

Please don't worry.  I think it is essential if your are in rental and have to move.

Well we made it with very little problems, we spoke to the police coming out of Garrucha as we had nipped to the tobacconist to get everything done in one go and they let us go without any fuss. We're all moved in yay! 2 weeks to unpack now! Thanks for all the reassurances, it was quite a stressful morning. Stay safe and good health!
