I am rertireing to Almeria area...we have been the Almeria and Murcia a few trimes, and have taken a leap of faith in renting something in Vera Playa from Octobet till June24.   Obvuoiusly we have to start somewhere. Would anybody like to give a shoutout the vitues (or not) of Vera as a starting point....we may settle there or just use it as a base to explore other areas.  We have been to all the costas over time and really don't have a favourire at the moment.     Thank you..

consum supermarket and bars and restaurants on doorstep.  Mercadona car distance and Vera town or bus if no car.

Naturist beach if that way inclined or going to Garrucha end nice safe sandy beach and water park.

Vera Pueblo and Vera Playa separated by around 8 km.  The Playa is quieter in the winter with the hotels all closing but there are sufficient bars etc to keep you amused.

Vera Pueblo itself doesn’t really change during summer or winter - LOT more traffic and less parking in Summer of course.  Vera town is very very Spanish; very little English is spoken here and certainly not in Correos and many of the shops.  I believe there is one person in the Ayuntamiento who has a command of English.

What are you looking for in a retirement place?
