B12 injections

Hi

My partner and I are just in the process of buying a property in Velez-Rubio and we should be moving there in around 8 weeks. My partner (Caroline) has to have a B12 injection every 10 weeks which is done by the nurse at our local drs. Does anyone have any experience of getting this in Spain? We are both under pensionable age so eventually will be getting some form of private healthcare but maybe she can get a regular B12 jab elsewhere?

All help and advice is gratefully received.

Hi,

You can purchase B12 ampoules OTC at any chemist together with correct size needles & syringes.

Would your practice nurse be prepared to show you how to administer? It's really easy. You start by practising on an orange.

Otherwise just take the ampoule.plus needle & syringe to the local.health centre with your request in Spanish.

The system out here can be so frustrating and.they can turn you away almost on whim.

So many Brits eulogise about it but I have been appalled on.a.number of occasions.

Many thanks Dr Bob & Sandra. I read somewhere that a lot of medication that is prescription only in the uk is available otc in Spain is this correct?

Apologies for tardy reply but been offline. The cottage is that remote.

The.answer is a resounding yes!!!! Not just a myriad of UK Prescription only medications, but at amazingly low prices.

When we visit our homes in India & Australia we do a tour of the local pharmacies & stock up to 15 months. Australia because meds are not covered by Medicare & India because of the risk of counterfeits.

Certain meds we also buy on line as not available/ registered for use in Spain & we don't like the local alternative.
