Hi. We were stopped by the Guardia and my green residencia card was checked. I have moved here from the Alicante area but have not updated my Residencia, which I now know that you have to by law. The officer told me to get an updated Padrón and bring it to Baza, but I am unable to find an oficina de extranjeros in Baza, only Almería. Can anyone tell me exactly where we need to go to update the address Residencia card, whether we need to make an appointment and what documents we need to bring, apart from an updated Padrón. TIA

You can change your address online, here : http://tramites.administracion.gob.es/en/community/tramites/resource/solicitud-de-cambio-de-domicilio/3899bd04-37e7-4619-837d-494cf5c4ac71

It's not neccessary to get a new green card / TIE as long as you have officially changed your address

Thanks very much for this link. Very helpful. However the Guardia who stopped us were insistant that the address on my residencia card had to be updated. I've done some further research and found this;

Should You Change Your Residency Document?

Officially, there is no reason to update your residency document when you change address, according to the Spanish Immigration Department. However, the extranjeria offices and police stations in some regions will ask that the address on your document is correct and ask that you get a new document each time you move. For this reason, you should notify your nearest police station as soon as you change your address, then they can let you know whether there are any additional steps you should take.

So it would appear it can be down to the area you live in! I will definitely use the link you have provided to notify other agencies, but I think I'll call in to our local police and take it from there. Thanks again.

The link will change address for all official national agencies - CNP / DGT / TGSS / AEAT - once changed you should be able to print off the acceptance of change of address, then just show that to the Guardia Civil in Baza.

Your nearest Extranjería is of course Almeria - and Extranjeria is of course run by CNP, so changing address online with CNP is exactly the same as attending Extranjeria

Ok, great. Why would I need to show it to the Guardia in Baza?

Was it not the Guardia Civil that stopped you?  If they’ve asked for proof you’ve changed address, it may be that that Oficial requires proof.

It’s the never-ending bureaucracy dance; change of address is the remit of CNP, but GC may ask for proof … still, change it online and you’ve complied with legal requirements

I don't think the official himself wanted proof. I hope not anyway. But thanks again for your help.

if the officer told you to get an updated Padron that is the registration at your local town hall not the residencia card and is also proof of your address

Yes, that is true, however it doesn’t remove the obligation to update all national agencies with new address - especially DGT who get a bit upset if you don’t change your address with them

Hi. Just to et you know, that the link above is ok but the link to the form isn't working. However I was able to access it through the CAB website and have completed it. Very straightforward (so far).
