Hi all

Anyone had experience of the process for exchanging your UK driving license for a Spanish one , in particular the medical. I read up there might be a computer based driving "test" while at the the medical test center. be good to know what level the questions are (easy or difficult etc).

Hi there, was initially on Spanish years ago but then reverted to UK as needed it for India & Spain.

There is a website/helpline where I understand you can .'chat ' to an advisor in English. www.citizensadvice.org.es

May be of some.help and free as opposed to the usual agencies.

Hi, in the last week,Bill Ruttens from Mojacar has posted a comprehensive update on changing his licence over. It is posted on the facebook page of Mojacar Group  Forum. It is very well written, and certainly worth reading. if you have difficulty accessing this then please pm me. Thanks, Sue

Hi Trevor

We exchanged ours at the end of last year. We went to Vera Vision for the medical certificate. The computer driving test you mention is just a coordination test where you have to keep a block between two lines which bends and narrows etc. using both hands. They then do a vision test and a blood pressure check. If all ok they issue you with the certificate which is valid for three months.

Along with the medical certificate you will need the originals of your British driving licence, the British counterpart, your passport, residentia and a talon foto document on which you glue your photograph. The photo has to be a certain size too, a passport photo is not acceptable as it's too big.

You then go to the office in Almeria where a temporary licence is issued, the permanent one usually follows in the post within 3 months (ours only took a couple of weeks). The cost at  the dgt office was 27 euros.

You can either go to the office yourself or use a gestoria.

Hope this helps
