Just realized  these have expired  date wise(wrongly assumed they were permanent) Registered for padron and banking  all was fine.   Does this now entail a trip to Almeria or any chance it can be done online. If so guess a Gestor is  needed ?. Only found out when went to buy a car.

Just as an added thing is it customary for the buyer to transfer ownership or the dealer ?

Once issued Residencia and NIE are permanent, they do not expire so do not need to be renewed although some of the older forms were stamped temporary this has since been changed to the current status. After Brexit Residencia cards will need to be exchanged for an ID card for 3rd nation nationals but the Spanish government are proposing this to be a simple process.

Hi,

Via a dealer then it should be the dealer. However some dealers merely sell ' on behalf of' the previous owner. Then it may be down to you & no warranty. It's basically a private sale.

Our friends didn't have this explained by CostaCoches until the clutch went 5months after purchase.

Ah!

Not everything is simple with Spanish documentation and certificates.

This is Spain.

Went to change Sip cards for the new national ones, as ours were Valencian where we used to live.

Should be straightforward we thought.

Produce existing ones and new padron..

Refused.

Need Nie's. Oh really?

Produced green residency card, plus full A4 certificate, not temporary documents!

That will do it no problem we all thought.

No....... not acceptable too old....... Dated 2014.... You need new NIE certificates.

We went to the National Security Office in Almeria.... Cannot help you need to make an appointment at the National Police HQ in Almeria.

No longer can you just stroll in we were told.

Phone calls only for an appointment now.....

We have waited since 16.04.19 for an appointment to renew which the date we had back from them is now set for 27.05.19.

Then....... Perhaps we stand a chance of renewing our SIP cards.

All this is contrary to advice we took off forums, websites and even the UK Embassy and UK Consulate websites.

It is Spain after all. We live in hope.

Oh yes I should add we were supervised throughout by a Spanish National who took advice first from the Townhall Administrator....

Even she could not believe it nor the Administrator.

Moral of the story - do not take anything for granted when it comes to Spanish documentation, even research sometimes does not beat an awquard prejudice official.

Just to add to this saga... to show they not that nas really....

I went to get my 12yr old an NIE as he needs one to go to senior school... booked appointment online as advised by police stn...wrong type of appointment😣 lovely lady wrote a note one back of ticket to get the.right one,  went back to reception, got right apt for hr later..... paI'd taxes next door and had a coffee.... went to apt..... why do you need just NIE,  why not residencia you've been here 12 yrs (me n hubby both have residencia and i work here) asked what paperwork I had.... fortunately took everything but the kItchen sink,  even birth certs that WEREN'T translated... stamp stamp.stamp go wait over there, residencia. .....all very efficient and just the whole morning in almeria....

And before anyone starts... yes i do speak spanish and I am a confident person which I think does help a lot but not cockey with it...if you don't know..ask someone...if you try they will help..remember lots of guiris in n out of there every day they must get p.off with it...

Oh nearly forgot. ... checked also. About our residencia certs (big Green a4) and the don't expire? But she did say about the new cards if/when brexit happens and they are not looking forward to changing everyone over....

You'd do better to go to C.A.T.S. where it's a one stop shop and they do everything for you. Yes this is Spain but we all made the conscious decision to come here so if there is any difference between the U.K. and your new country of residence, put up with it and enjoy the sun!

Love Spain, love the people, love the food, love the weather! What's there to complain about? Nine degrees in the U.K. this morning, foggy and miserable. Don't worry be happy in Spain! 😎🇪🇸

Hiya

I would recommend emma randle to answer all your questions. She works very near extranjeria and can accompany you there. Her number is 654164293. She is excellent and extremely reasonable.
