Hi,

Until today my previous Luz bills were Luz only, the latest bil arrive today with a 15cent charge under Tope del Gas. We only have a gas water heater for which we buy replacement bottles locally. Admittedly it’s a tiny amount, but it seems odd, there’s no mains gas supply connected to the house. Any ideas ?

Ciao,

Alan D

You are lucky to have escaped so far. The gas charge is levied where the electricity companies use gas to make their electricity and is passed on to the customer as a result of a royal decree.

Google it and you will see the full details.  Hope this helps.

The cap on the price of gas is a temporary measure put in place by the government (Royal Decree-Law 10/2022) with the objective of containing electricity prices by setting a maximum benchmark price for natural gas used in electricity generation.

It is not a rebate or a discount: it is a "ceiling".

Although we talk about gas, it only affects electricity bills (as it applies to gas used in generating electricity).

checking our bill we found the small charge for gas but also a charge for something called OK Luz which seems to be a contract for a service to your electrical stuff which we didn't know we are paying and is €4.20 a month.  Has anyone else used this service they are saying it includes repairs and service of air con but we have never been contacted reference this.

good one that expect lots of customers missed the email if in Spanish and in Junk and if you don't know you've got it you never use it so they are on a winner there.  Going into the office today to get it cancelled but don't expect to get a refund.

Yes, I showed a neighbour who had the same problem, they had the email, but didn’t understand it, despite living here for 16 years! They didn’t get a refund, obviously.

so went into the offices in Vera and no surprise they couldn't do anything there I had to wait for a telephone call and when it came they spoke no english and my limited Spanish was not good enough to make them understand what I wanted so no action taken to cancel.  So now next step is to ask my solicitor to intervene and get it cancelled for me and as it was put in place when we changed from Fenia energia, after not receiving any bills for months from them, and we did not ask for it or have any knowledge of what it was we wait to see if she can get any refund for us.  Won't hold our breath though.

so solicitor couldn't help said that they have many clients in the same position so went to our admin office for our block and asked nicely if she could help me.  She made tel call to free number and in Spanish sorted it for us end result we had to send confirmation email in Spanish , which she kindly wrote out for us and which we have sent to them now wait to see if it is removed from our next bill.   Endesa must have lots of english customers but no service provision to assist them.  Nice earner though to take €50 per Annum from customers for something they probably don't know they have and woudn't use as they'd need good Spanish to do so.

I purchased a new build property a few months ago and took electricity contract with Endesa. Having read the previous comments I checked and I too have OK luz on my invoice. Having researched further it appears it is added to all new contracts whether suitable or not, and can be cancelled after a year. Cancellation before the years contract is completed could result in a penalty of the remainder of the contract.
