Hi everyone

Just a quick  one

Did anyone move from  UK to Spain  after brexit?I'm asking  this because  I was wondering  will  I have to pay import taxes and  duty on my household items when I move in August

Please can someone  who actually moved this year can let me know what will happen to  my goods when they arrive in removal truck at spanish  border

Much appreciated 🙏

Hi Zakluka21

If your chosen removal firm has experience of moving stuff to Spain from UK, they will advise you what can or shouldn't be taken and any taxes or duties for which you would be liable.

However you really gotta decide whether the cost and bother is worth it.

Almost everything you will need is available in Spain. Furniture and bedding in Spain is appropriate for Spanish conditions, so I suggest you only bring irreplaceable personal items and buy new or secondhand furniture, kitchen equipment and bedding in Spain.

Clothing suitable for British weather is unlikely to suit the much warmer weather in the south of Spain. Charity shops in Spain won't appreciate donations of heavy coats and thick jumpers.

If you take your car, you'll probably have to bring it back to the UK when it's time to sell it  - or sell it in Spain for a pittance (assuming you register it in Spain, which is a bureaucratic process). As you can imagine there is a very limited demand for right hand drive cars in Spain.

Good luck with your move.
