Yes N26 account has debit card

Thank you, I'm a bit of a dinosaur but will definitely consider moving to online.

Wefferent from Cajamar also an online only account with no charges.  The downside is if you need to speak to someone in the bank, you’re likely to be hit with charges - this stands for any of the online accounts.

If you need a physical account in a branch, then no matter which bank, you’re going to wear charges unless you take one of their products / make regular deposits....

Must correct you here Dario.  Bankinter don't charge for consultation in person.  We've had to consult face to face various times as my husband is deaf and can't manage phonecalls as most hearing aids distort everything - especially if there's a 'mechanical voice' rattling on at high speed!

Bankinter have branches in Vera, Almeria and also Roquetas, but I think you have to have a monthly deposit, minimum 800 euros, as far as I know.

I have nothing to compare the bank with but Sabadell seem very expensive. We pay 40 euro every three months and 30 euro a year just to have debit cards. I also discovered to my horror that if you draw money out in another country, even in euros that you incur a 4.5% surcharge. It was in the origi...

I am with Sabadell and I am charged €15 a quarter provided I deposit at least €700 a month. I use Wise to transfer cash from UK account. If I use Revolut to transfer to my Sabadell account (which I don't any more) there are charges.

Thanks but as we only have a holiday apartment we only deposit a thousand every now and then. I was drawing cash out in Ireland and since the ATM did not show any charges I took out the max on both cards. It cost me 36 euros.

Hi Johnl7

I have a current account plus credit and debit cards with Sabadell for about 15 years. Never paid a cent in fees except for non-euro transactions.  I have used Revolut for past 4-5 years for non-euro transactions and never paid a cent.

I've heard of people who are being charged, but that's not my experience.  Perhaps my older contracts have better Ts & Cs.

The last time I used Revolut to transfer euros into my Sabadell account they charged me €15 for the privilege. This happened about 3 months ago and when I queried the charge with my branch they said it was because the UK is outside the EU. Thankfully I don't have this problem with Wise.

Hi John17

That's awful!

I do some business in Morocco, Poland and the UK and arrange to be paid in Dirhams, Złoty, sterling etc into my Revolut account which converts the proceeds into euro.  Typically 30-50 transactions a year.

Never paid 1 cent in charges. Maybe I have old contracts with more favourable terms.

Several people in Spain and Portugal have asked me about banking, and I have suggested Sabadell (and Revolut for non-euro transactions). I'll need to check out the newer terms and conditions before I open my mouth in future!!

In an earlier comment someone mentioned reduced charges as they put in at least 700 euros a month and I do recall a while back where if a larger amount per month goes in then there are no charges. I originally topped my account up using TORFX but thanks to information on a forum I now use Western Union.

I bank with Sabadell, and as long as you put 700€ a month in, zero charges on anything;  I use Wise (ex TransferWise) to transfer € into and out of the account - zero charges.  I also use Wise to keep a € balance and get paid a fairly decent interest rate on it.
