Could anyone tell me how much a new gas bottle would cost me or is it cheaper to buy an empty one off someone and fill it up as I need a Spair one.

It is our belief that you need to be on a Contract with Cepsa or Repsol to purchase a bottle and for that your Residence has to be certified by a Gas Fitter/ plumber. Far easier to just buy a bottle either from a Forum ad or one of the 2nd hand shops. Usually 10€/ bottle empty.

No, don't get a contract - it's too much hassle. Far better to buy an empty one from a market or boot sale (or the aforementioned forum) for around 10€ then exchange it almost anywhere for a full one.

Sorry, no idea what you mean? We ourselves use Cepsa Propane at the cottage & Butane in the gas heaters at apt although these heaters & bottles will be for sale as changing to Neater Heaters. We don't have a Contract at the cottage having moved from another property in 2003. We purchased the bottles over the years. Never had gas delivered it was always take empty & swap.

We have just bought a gas heater from Travelgas (Repsol) in Vera and with the heater they let us have 2 Butane bottles without paying any deposit. We just paid for the gas.

We can exchange these at the petrol station or if we ring Travelgas they will deliver them free of charge to us in Mojacar Playa, they deliver every Monday Wednesday and Friday

They did fill in a contract for the bottles but all we needed was our NIE Numbers - there was no need for a gas test as the bottles were for a free standing heater (estufa)

We have been using the heater for 2 weeks now and the first bottle has just run out so I will ring them on Monday and see if the delivery system works!
