Car Insurance Companies

Hi,

We were with Abbeygate until we discovered they only insured the basic vehicle. Any optional extras were not covered. Still ring/ e mail Abbeygate & ask. They are underwritten by Lloyds of London so you have a formal Complaint mechanism unlike Spanish Companies like Allianz which you avoid like the plague.

I believe that Spanish Cos. will only insure for a year & no refund.

We have our 4x4'with Linea Directa because of their breakdown cover which is irrespective of distance from home. Am told Mapfre is similar. Allegedly the cheapest.

I’ll second Bob - only two companies offer breakdown irrespective of distance; Mapfre and Línea Directa.  Mapfre is the biggest, I believe but it’s prices reflect that.  I have both our cars insured with Línea Directa

Does your advice still stand?  I will need to arrange insurance around mid-April so am looking for recommendations before getting quotes.

As far as I am aware, yes.  I’m still with Linea Directa and I believe that it is still only them and MAPFRE which offer breakdown with no distance limit
