Does anyone know how best to paint a galvanised door. It gets full sun almost all day winter and summer so any advice welcome.

Why do you want to paint it?
Once painted, always painted.
Why not just lightly clean with soapy water and a Scotchbrite pad?
Save yourself a lot of trouble and work.
In answer to your question though,
Thoroughly clean with soap and water. Remove any corrosion and treat with a rust preventative ( Galvanised doesn't rust but if it is worn through to the original metal rust will show.
Scotchbrite it all smooth.
Prime with two coats of metal primer ( spray is best although can be brushed )
Rub down with Fine Wet&Dry paper after each coat
Paint with two coats top coat metal paint ( again spray will give the best finish )
Rub down with Fine Wet&Dry paper after FIRST top coatHammerite or Oxirite are the paints
Lopez have all the tools and paint you need.
Paint on a cool cloudy day or late evening after sundown. It'll be a nightmare to do in hot sunshine.

Thank you so much. It’s a brand new door. Just doesn’t match the villa as we have dark brown pergolas and doors and windows so would like it to match in. It’s in the middle of a large ornamental stonewall. The Store room behind the door is dug back into the mountain. So a good wipe to start and the job as you describe. Great.

I think there's a primer especially for galvanised metal which you ought to use first. Lopez sells this too.

Good point Juanida.
I believe hammerite make a combined galvanised metal primer and top coat all in one - not sure if Lopez have it and it might be to brush. But worth looking at.

The paint shop is your best bet i have used them often they have a spainish type of Hammerite & the thinners if you want to spray it or use it to thin your first coat. Hope this helps.

Etching primer then your paint
Dulux product is called Super grip primer
If you don't use this it will debond and sheet
