Unless they get the rest of the EU to agree also, then it can’t and won’t happen.

I wouldn't say it's never going to happen, but I wouldn't hold me breath. Spain would have to do a lot to make it happen. Maybe they will sort something, but it's a long way in the future, at least 5 years.

Daily Mail Matthew stating that the 90 day rule is affecting the snowbird population and the economy for the winter months in Spain.

Yes, my friend in Mojacar sends me all the updates.  So, to all the usual culprits on here who absolutely delighted in telling us Spain doesn’t need the British Tourists, we think we are so important and we are not ……..   it has at last come to light, officially, Spain IS feeling the loss. I don’t believe for one minute it won’t happen that the Brit tourists or people who invested their life savings in Spain will have to wait that long. After all, they are struggling like the rest of the World.

I think you are correct and something will be done due to the economic pressure. Spain does want tourism level back up before Brexit and Covid, it makes up a substancial part of the economy.

But I don't think it will happen very quickly though.

Surely though, it’s up to the individual countries to choose  whether or not they actively enforce the rule?

If you fly directly from UK to Spain and vice versa, no other country would be involved?

We don’t have an axe to grind on this as we have residencia, but there has to be some kind of affect on the Spanish economy with fewer Brits spending here? Especially in the quieter winter season.
