Yeah it's pretty rubbish in the winter trying to get any flights to almeria....I think the only airport is Gatwick....if you don't mind a few hours on the bus you can get a cheap flight to alicante and get a bus down...I did it last year and it wasn't too bad and only cost 18 euros.

Yup.  Monarch used to provide flights but went bust.  With Thomas Cook going, I think you need to look at Murcia, at least, if not Alicante.  It depends where you are in the UK.  Try the google flights app; it has a grid where you can see what flights are available and the cost in particular where the days on which you wish to fly are negotiable.

It's a pain, pure and simple.

I'm moving to Arboleas in the new year and need to.pop over to sort out some paperwork. I only need one full day but because there are no daily flights I can either stay here for four days, or fly to Alicante.

Alicante has almost as many choices as Malaga, a d I can come and go daily from London Southend, which is only 15 minutes away from my current Essex home.

The downside is a 2 hour drive from Alicante. Which is just over an hour longer than Almeria, and about 45 minute longer than Covera (which given better options, I would use all the time)

Not good news, I'm sorry to say, but a viable alternative.

Best wishes. Lee

Murcia close in December, I have tried to get flights to there, but says it closes.. Not sure if this is right but I have tried a few different airports.

The lovely Murcia airport at San Javier closed in January.  There is a new (international) airport at Corvera, which is slightly less convenient.  The airport code is RMU, but you should find it on, for example, Google Flights.

Hope this helps

I'm pretty sure Corvera is open. I searched for flights in December and some were offered.

As I said earlier. The lack of daily flights is the problem.

As far as the actual airport goes, its a mere 24kms further than Almeria, and I would use Covera anytime. Somebody has REALLY thought about the flow of people and the short distances to walk make it a joy to use.

What more could you ask for? From stopping on the apron, to passport control, to luggage reclaim, to car hire formalities and finally, driving out of the airport. 40 minutes in total. The only way to beat that is charter a private aircraft.
