Hi this is probably a how long is this piece of string question.we bought a house in Los gallardos last year with the intention of moving out permanently in 2 yrs time. Then comes along the brexit fiasco. I am aware of what the Spanish gov. Have said recently. I know we can claim residency now but we are unsure of the tax implications of this. Has anybody had any experience similar to us.

Hi,

Its a question on the minds of so many people. To date there is a difference between physically Resident & Resident for Tax Purposes (more than 183'or 186 days in Spain). Gratefully we travel extensively so not resident for Tax although need to submit of course.

Everything changes and guess we won't know the substantive situation until after the 2yr interim period or whatever.

Actually what concerns us more is Inheritance Tax/ Death Duties given that we shall no longer be part of the EU.

It really is 'Watch this Space'.

Death & Taxes,

Bob and Sandra
