Helen, I do know that manure pits in Andalucia should be at least 500 metres in distance from urban areas and if situated on a higher level above such urban areas, not to be on a slope of more than15 per cent incline.  There are more detailed regulations which your town hall can give you as regards manure heaps and livestock keeping.

If you are in a village, many villagers also have a custom of keeping a pig for fattening, but keeping livestock in urban areas is not in accordance with EEC regulations nor is  the way the animals are sometimes housed, but enforcing will not help you make friends amongst neighbours so rarely denuncias are made, sadly enough.

Thank you so I'll just be grateful I rented 150meters away from one then and didn't buy and put up with breathing in harmful toxins all day every day and fight off flies until I move. it will definatly be going on the tick list of what not to be around when I purchase. Big health hazard for anyone with breathing difficulties and lung problems also causes signus infections and loss of smell due to damaging nerves. And to top that you have to pay for the pleasure of it.

I think you should find out who is responsible for pile of dung and say to the owner or rental agency that  if this is not removed you will report this infraction of the law to to the Guardian Civil or to the town hall or take professional advice if nothing is done. Don't accept this whatever you do.  I'm sure you've come here to relax but you a facing a year of misery if you accept this and this dung heap is  far too close.  I would try and get my money back. Do you have a proper legal  rental agreement? If you don't, you'll have all the cards in your favour.

The smell of manure rotting down is neither harmful or toxic you may not like the smell but you won’t die from it
