Fuente water

The water is washed down from the mountains and obviously are exposed to contaminents and bacteria, animal waste etc. So is it safe ? 😒

It does not go through an expensive decontamination plant like your tap water.

Yes the local sometimes drink it but to some extent they become immune to the contamination contained in the untreated water.

Take the risk if you like, believe those who say " oh yes I drink the water" those that will not turn their taps on for fear of putting a few cents on their water bill.

Bear in mind some local Spanish residents have no metered water supply either by location or by lack of income to afford a water supply to their home. 

I have lived in three areas in Spain over the last 10 years and seen the unfortunate few in this situation. 

In fact from my current home I can see the town water tap which is used daily. The locals have no option but to drink it (most boil the water first) the ex-pat community water their gardens with it.

"Free water" is good for watering the garden.

You are free to check the water quality of your tap water from your supplier, either on the web or by visit. You will find them very helpful and reassuring.

We drink from the Fuente higher up the Rambla at Fuente Amarga, not to save a few coppers, but we prefer it to mains water. Also you must consider whether you have a home deposit and pump. Because the water in the deposit can be stood for weeks we never drink it, even if boiled.

We have a water deposit that gets pumped into the house, we alternate it so we turn pump off occasionally so we are using direct mains and also means that the deposit does not sit for days on end.

We mostly let deposit fill via mains then pumped into house.

I drink fuente water all day everyday and I am perfectly fine.
