I am driving over in late April/early May if anyone out here in blighty needs a lift. I am currently in North wales and taking the Sunday night ship from Portsmouth and doing the drive in a day to Vera if anyone needs to get over. Cash towards the petrol is all that's needed and you can sort out your own ferry stuff. Pm me if anyone needs a lift,

Regards

Kev.

hi Kev, would have loved to but cannot make those dates, I am planning on hiring a van and taking my stuff to San Juan de los Terreros where I own a penthouse. Would be grateful if you could give me any ferry/travel info when you get back to help me plan my trip.

cheers

Yeah of course I will. When are you planning on driving over. Don't leave it too late to book the ferry though as the summer months tend to book up very quickly.

Have you began to have a look at the journey? You can get a good idea from the AA Route planner on the web and then you get a good idea of the drive involved.

Give me a shout if I can be of any assistance with your trip,

Regards,

Kev.

I'm interested in your route. I'm driving down the following month- tickets all booked now. But I'm driving through france via the migrant- er - I meant Dover-Calais route. I'm bargaining on the journey taking at least two days. The route suggests 24 hours but that's too long for me - and I'm a hardened car driver taking a 14 hour drive every year (to another destination)

Ha ok you mean the very friendly help yourself to England holding camp then???

We are doing the lesser route of Bilbao. Its a bit longer on the ferry to get there but it cuts out the longer drive once in Europe. Its roughly about 9 hours or so on paper but I never understood what a speed limit is on an open motorway :)

Our ship gets in about 07.45 and I think I can make it to Vera by teatime. I done the French way once and to be honest it scared the living p**s out of me in Paris. Never again !! Damn bunch of Citroen drivers have not got a clue !!

Hope you have a good journey down,

Kev.

Ah yes- Pari'

I don't know why but I just don't like France and the French. But that might just be ignorance. But my route avoids going through Paris.

Interesting. I didn't know there was a ferry service there. Thought competition had killed it off. I travel through the Netherlands, Germany Poland every Easter. I like a long ferry because - I get to sleep!

I shall give my existing route a go and will report....back in June.
