Yes please. There used to be a chap on Turre market offering this service but he has stopped. Go for it.

Thanks for feedback. It wouldn't be the only service I could offer as I have my own electrical business in England employing a few blokes at the moment and I'm pretty handy with all types of building works, but fancy a change of pace and life style. I just want to stay busy and make sure that i will have work. I thought that this service would help a lot of people who either couldn't get to Ikea or couldn't make the furniture. I could do the whole thing for them and take away the aggro.

Are you not better doing electrical work .

You could offer the Ikea collection thing too but here’s the issue , say a client wants an order picking up , it says it’s in stock but turns out it’s damaged or missing , then you will have a wasted journey .

Plus Ikea used to charge around 240€ to deliver items then they reduced to just 69€

And furthmore they keep lying about when the new Ikea will open .

There’s a shortage of good appliance repair service too.

I second kdskitchens advice re: being self-employed.  I’ve just registered for Autónomo; in Andalucia there’s a lot of benefits to being self-employed, lower Autónomo, business development grants etc, but it is important to register as TGSS are cracking down on non-payment of Autónomo, with big fines being levied.

Less.  I had a whole load of stuff delivered to me in Vera from Murcia. HelloVan charged me 54€.

HelloVan are I think IKEA partners and seem to have delivery sewn up, with the ability to organize pickup from anywhere and deliver to anywhere and pay via their app.  I believe they offer a build service as well.

Must admit that’s pretty good price , mind u I prefer to collect myself , would be better if they bloody opened the almeria one .

Stupid thing is this , they have opened it but it’s not what people think , it’s an office about half the size of McDonald that deal with kitchen plannng .

Anyone wants a plan I can do that for them no prob .

That's all fine if you are ordering big orders but I'm thinking I could do a weekly trip, or more if needed, picking up lots of people's smaller orders all at the same time. So someone might only want to spend 200€ on a cabinet and wouldn't want to spend 50€ to get it delivered. I could offer a service where I would get it for them cheaper as long as I had 8-15 different peoples collections to pick up at the same time. Then on top of that I could install the item for them as well...

It would work as long as enough people ordered at the same time.

It's only an idea at this point.

Your right of course, and it’s a good idea; your challenge will be finding sufficient people ordering at the same time - or at least having items ready for collection at the same time - but yes, the idea has merit.

I would urge caution though with regards being self-employed and not paying Autónomo.  A lot of people do fly under the radar and operate solely in the “black” economy ... current government is all too aware of that and would very much like to ensure they get their cut.  That being said, Autónomo gives many benefits, such as a pension after 15 years and ability to claim unemployment after 6 months, as well as inclusion on Spanish Health system.

If your looking for Residencia, payment of Autónomo gets you over the line for health cover.
