Hi All

We have just opened an debit card account with Unicaja bank in Arbolaes as we have just bought a villa in El Chopo

Do Unicaja charge for annual fees, maintainance etc, if so what are the charges? and do any of the staff speak English at the Unicaja Bank in Arbolaes? (As I have not started my Spainish speaking lessons yet !!! )

Can anyone suggest another bank near by better than Unicaja in that area that don't charge any fees etc or is Unicaja ok?

We are not looking to make money transfers etc just use the bank for deposits and use a card in ATM's as we are going to transfer our money in to Unicaja using Curreny Direct or XE Transfers

Any advise would be appreciated

Cheers Gary

Surely if you have opened the account in           Arboleas you would have noticed if they speak English.

Also surely when you opened the account the paperwork you signed would show you the costa if running the account.

Am I miss something in the post.

I believe they do speak English in branch however you will find most banks have charges now for use of cards.  We use transferwise to put money in our Cajarmar account branch in Arboleas just across road from Unicaja and sometimes they charge sometimes they don't.  It's a bit hard to move accounts around here lots of paperwork.  Make sure you do your tax returns though using a good advisor.

Hi Gary,

They have a girl there who speaks perfect english.

As for charges, I think they are minimal. One thing to be aware of, there can be long waiting times.

Might be an idea to visit and make an appointment with the English speaking girl so you can get all info you need.

Good luck, and welcome to the area.

Patricia

My  bank is Unicaja in Mojacar. Can't say that I am impressed with their 4.5E a month charge but otherwise OK.

You would  be better with sabadell they will close the account from your old bank and there is no bank charges as long as you have a regular amount coming in, and they will arrange every thing for you, the bonus is they all speak good English
