Hi all, I'm coming to Almeria early June. Is there a place where UK expats meet up? Would like to learn about about the Almeria Provence area. Looking to buy a place near the coast in the future.😀

Thanks all

UPDATE.

I'm here in Almeria now. Am going to Mojacar tomorrow to have a look around.

UPDATE.

In Mojacar now. Going down Scotties for food and beer later. Would be nice to meet some members of the forum if possible?

Thanks all for the help.

I stand to be corrected, but I don't think you'll find many expats in Almeria city itself, Almeria province yes. Lots of the coastal areas for example Roquetas, Mojajar, Vera, Palomares and many others, plus inland areas, Arboleas. Albox, to name a few. I suggest if you are looking to settle, find a place you like then ask again on this forum where I'm sure you will find lots of helpful advice.

Hi, having worked in Almeria City a few years ago I can confirm that there are UK immigrants living there - a lot of whom  work in the various language schools there ( as was the case with myself). They are great young people who lead very busy lives but who also enjoy socialising. Your best bet may be to call into one of the academies there to introduce yourself and see if you can arrange to meet up with any of the staff after work ( bear in mind, this may probably mean after 22.00 as many academies work afternoons and evenings). This would be a good way to start.

Yes, I think your past responses are correct. Almeria itself is not ex-pat, but that maybe not what you are looking for. Costacabana, near the airport and by the sea, began as a largely German/British village around 60 years ago. Now it is mainly Spanish and few English remain, although my family are well and truly here for good and our friends here are Spanish apart from one German. It largely depends on what you want. Good luck with your search. Many people on this website will be willing to offer advice should you need it.
