This is a link to the latest news regarding exchange of UK driving licences to Spanish. IT'S LOOKING GOOD I HOPE!

In all likelihood … probably … once the licence is reinstated for 6 months, it’ll be “oh I’ve got plenty of time now I’ll do it next month” … 6 months later ….

There is no chance Dario, Some of my toys haven't been out for a while and I can guarantee that I will be first in the queue.

This is good news for a couple of people I know who were screwed over by a certain company that lied about putting the paperwork in. Does anybody know if the driving health checks done previously have a time limit on them or if it would be worth getting them done again as I assume there is going to be an influx of people trying to exchange.

I don’t know for certain, but I would imagine the health checks will be like all other official documentation required - less than three months old.

Despite Hugh Elliott saying “weeks, not months” I would urge caution in going for new health checks until the agreement is actually signed - wouldn’t be good to get fresh health checks, only to find that there has been a delay and the checks go out of date again

My wife and I submitted our licences for exchange in plenty of time, both had the medical and test and paid the fee. My Spanish licence came through in December but despite chasing, my wife's UK licence was returned in April, just before the deadline, unprocessed. According to Traffico it was because they were not getting responses from DVLA. So now, she can't drive here and her UK licence has expired..fortunately, in the meantime, she has been able to renew it. Six months extension may not be long enough.....

Health check lasts three months. May I also say, and not being negative, just realistic, the actual video says ‘once the agreement has been signed, uk  holders will have six months to exchange, with a clause, their license’ no one knows what the ‘clause’ might be, driving test, maybe! In addition please take into consideration that DGT closes for August, hence if weeks, end of June, you will have only 5 months to exchange/ take a test. Sorry if this has burst any bubbles but, I’m one of those that had a rubbish Solicitor who failed, through her lack of understanding, to submit my intent to change.

On a positive note, I’ve passed my theory, if I can do it, being dyslexic, anyone can. Practical next week. Watch this space.
