You bought a right hand drive spanish reg car in the uk ??
To my limited knowledge you may still need to get the car thru the Spanish ITV which at the very least means expensive headlamps, other safety related items covering rear light, fog lights etc. The headlamp beam converters wont get you thru the ITV.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong as we are permanent residents and have had to get the ITV, Spanish road tax etc.
6 months I suppose you'd be unlucky to be stopped unless in the case of an accident.
We ran our car, (insured by Abbeygate) for just over 4 and a bit months on UK plates with no problems or stops.
As for driving thru France and Spain why not catch the ferry from Portsmouth to Bilbao or Santander and make a bit of a cruise about it.
From the UK (saffron walden essex) to partners villa in Southern Spain was/is around 1450kms which in our instance we split off the ferry by doing an air bnb in Madrid before driving the other 450 odd kms to destination, the weather was atrocious, the further south we went the wetter it got. Driving thru France I cant countenance on, doubtless others can.
Abbeygate run what appears to be a split system, keeping details on their UK website before transferring you onto their Spanish database.
One thing about Spain is diesel is quite a bit cheaper and as yet theres no witchhunt on diesels like theres starting to be in the UK.
Have fun on your new adventure.
