Hi all,

My husband and I are coming over to Albox to obtain residency in December.

My husband has Irish and UK passports and I have a UK one only.

I approached CATs who have replied saying they can sort out my husband’s EU residency but that I will have to get a NLV which I found odd. I know I am entitled to get residency as a spouse of an EU citizen without needing a visa.

Can someone please reassure me this is the case.

TIA.

You don’t need an NLV.

The EU family member residence card is a residence permit that enables relatives of Spanish or EU citizens to live and work in Spain under the same conditions as any other EU citizen.

Thanks to that family relationship, those non-EU citizens are entitled to a 5-year residency card that has many advantages. And they can obtain it even if they are under an irregular status in Spain.

Executing and obtaining the Spanish residence permit via this procedure is called the family member of a European Union citizen...

Thank you this is exactly what I thought. Thank you for clarifying as I had a sudden panic about it. Very reassuring 😀

Obtaining residencia as spouse of an eu citizen is straightforward and gives you all the same benefits as your spouse.

We used Almeria Documents Direct in Arboleas and found them excellent!

My wife has got residencia as she like your husband also has an Irish passport. My application as her spouse is currently going through. We have used Almeria documents direct in arboleas also. Great people. So knowledgeable.

Btw you still need to process an application with them. It's not a case of not needing anything

Not everything advised by CATs is reliable. Contact Clare Shirley at jade2031@yahoo.com for expert guidance or direct assistance.

We use Kate Salt, who used to work for CATS. She did our residency paperwork back in 2018, whilst working there. Recently she’s done our TIÉs and S1 etc.
