What can I do to keep paint on the walls old coteco

Is the wall damp or are you trying to paint over lime paint?  I'm not a painter/decorator  but perhaps a covering of kyro Krill (Like a pva) would help it stick, if surface is rough, dabbing paint on with a round brush.. ?? 

Hi thanks for replying, Wall's are damp and I've scrap all loose paint off but when I go to roller paint on it pulls off old paint. PVA no good it comes off as well. 

Had similar issues as all sorts had been applied by previous owners so scraped most off, tried normal paint no good as flaked after a week or two, tried pva solution no good and a proper stabilisation solution but still no long term result, tried special damp covering paint but again after a while it flaked.  Gave up and wallpapered the room, that worked lol. Ideal situation if have the money (sadly I don't) is to tile part way up the walls.  In a room with with one flaky wall I stripped what I could then put tongue and groove wood along affected wall.  That has proved successful thus far!

Hi we had Wall paper on loving room but that came off. Like you we are going to tongue and groove the living room and dinning room later but thank you. 

You could speak to the people in supinbox paint shop they might have a recommendation.  Traditional cortijos are very different to other builds.  The consensus elsewhere on the net is trying to damproof is both a waste of time and prohibitively expensive. Hope you have some success.

I had a similar problem in my old Cortijo,the thing is unless you can dry the property out completely with an industrial de-humidifier (this can take weeks)then you are on a loser.and means taking any old plaster/yeso off

there are 2 ways to go 'tank' the room with a plastic spray(expensive) then decorate,or paint the walls with a 'tar' based paint and 'dry line' which sadly takes away the character

What did I do?

I got a de-humidifier,moved out, then painted again,BUT it only lasted 6 months as I was built into a mountain

you have to move out because the de-humidifier sucks the moisture out of everything including you

Mix a bag of morteo blanco with sand render hall the wall andy paint with breatable paint.
