Medical certificate, issued by a registered medical practitioner, no later than 3 months prior to the date of application, it must be formulated in the following terms or similarly:

 If the medical certificate is issued in the United Kingdom: “This health certificate states that Mr./Mrs. (…) does not suffer from any of the diseases that may have serious public health repercussions in accordance with what is stipulated by the International Health Regulations of 2005” Certificates issued in the United Kingdom must be accompanied by a sworn translation into Spanish.

 If the medical certificate is issued in Spain: “Este certificado médico acredita que el Sr./Sra. (…) no padece ninguna de las enfermedades que pueden tener repercusiones para la salud pública graves, de conformidad con lo dispuesto en el reglamento sanitario internacional de 2005” This Consulate does not provide information about medical centres that issue this certificate. The applicant may contact any public or private medical centre duly accredited in the territory of the United Kingdom or Spain. Medical certificates issued in countries other than the United Kingdom or Spain will not be accepted.

These certificates must hold the Hague Apostille (except documents issued by Spain, which will not require to be legalised)

A  couple of copies of the medical certificate of good health:

Hi, unless the rules have changed, you need to apply in person at a Spanish Consulate in the UK.

London or Manchester for England. There are numerous documents you will require and there is a list on the the Consulate website. We found Manchester much more accommodating. The documents: Criminal checks (ACPO), GP certificate (which has to be worded precisely as the Website wording) bank statements etc, all have to translated, signed and stamped by a registered translator and be dated within 3 months of the application. Other documents, which have a "wet" signature, need to be sent to the British Foreign Office for an "Apostle." There are also Spanish application forms to complete. I know this sounds daunting but you can work your way through this.

There may be a lady in your area who may be able to provide some help, if you need the details, please let me know.

As I mentioned, unless the rules have changed, you have to submit all the documentation from a UK address that is in the region that the Consulate covers, there is a map on the website to show which Consulate covers what areas. We had to we had to apply for an appointment by email but have to wait for an appointment date (3-4 weeks) When you attend in person, they go through the submission with you and you have wait to receive an email telling you if it has been approved or not (2-3 weeks.) We came to our property in Spain in the interim period but we think we were supposed to wait in the UK but not sure why. We flew back and had our passports stamped with the NLV and then had 3 months to apply for our N.I.E. card and you will need help with that I suspect. This is valid for 1 year from the date the passport is stamped. You then reapply for a 2 year, then a further 2 years. At that point you get a 10 year Visa. Please be aware and take note of the financial requirements, in round numbers you have to show a income for €28,000 per annum for the first person and €8,000 fir each subsequent member of the household. So €34,000 for the first year for a couple but if there are say 4 members of the household, that would be €50,000. I should mention that on the first application our property was taken into consideration but that has not happened on our year 1-3 renewal application, we have not been told why and to be honest, it caught us out, also the fact they want to see 2 years income, that means €72,000 for is as a couple.

Sorry that should read €36,000 for the first year and €52,000 if a family of 4.
