are you saying that Turre also becomes very crowded in the summer? We would like to make a circle of friends and Turre seems to have a community, do Yu ou think that Garrucha would offer this as well. Only going to be living initialy for the 6 winter months.

Hi we have lived in Turre now for 3 years and while it gets busier in the summer it is not vastly overcrowded. Most visitors are friends and family of ex pats anyway and come here because it is not so busy. The annual fiesta is the first week of October and is noisy and busy because it is their main fiesta but you enjoy it more by joining in. People here are friendly and come from all parts of the UK and there are also people from France, Germany and Holland too. So a very mixed community. The local Spanish people are friendly also and always seem to have a smile for you. Not all speak English, though some try their best. they appreciate us ex-pats at least trying to speak Spanish too. There are 2 main supermarkets with a couple of 'corner shops'; plenty of bars and restaurants that suit all tastes. There are public tennis courts and a boules (petanq) courts too. So plenty to do and we are only 10 mins away by car from the beaches at Mojacar or Garrucha and 15 mins from Vera playa (the non nudist part). So, renting is best to start with to give a 'feel' for the area. We wish you lots of luck and are sure you will not regret coming here.
