Buses go from Vera town to Villaricos but not sure what other towns they go to .
From Vera Playa you can get buses to Vera town,Garrucha and Mojacar but I don't think there are any other buses to Villaricos.
You would need a car in Villaricos to get about if you want to discover the area. A few small shops there, but a big market on Sundays.. Or if you are keen cyclists, then there is a flat road south all the way pretty much to Mojacar, via Vera Playa, Garrucha. The road north along the coast is a stunning cliff-hugging good road to San Juan De Los Terreros, and further to Aguilas, Nearest supermarket a few KM's south on the main road, Consum, where in the summer there are a whole host of......'interesting' people shopping, many naturists in that area as well.

As far as I can see there is a bus from Mon to Thursday from Villaricos to Carboneras, Garrucha,Palomares and Mojacar .
Sharon65 is correct. One bus about 9am from Villaricos and returns about 1-2pm.
