Hi folks,

Recently moved to the almeria area from the UK. We are very rural near the town of Benizalon. One thing we haven't figured out is what to do with rubbish.

There are no bins at the property and I doubt a refuse collector could get down our road. Do we do something different in a rural area like take it to a particular spot?

Thanks in advance!

Rob

You will find either large grey or sometime green bins at various places in the Campo.  You take your rubbish there and put it in the bin.  You may also find you have a bell shaped bin for bottles.  Some towns have a dedicated punta limpia which is like a small version of the municipal dump you get in UK.  There there will be a variety of bins for different stuff.

If you check your townhall website you will also be able to find when you can put bulky stuff by the bin for collection (usually twice a month).  Oh and if something is working, or useable people tend to put it next to the bin for the ultimate recycling.

Hope this helps.  Oh and you can pay your bill for the service at your bank if you get your bill from the townhall.  Or you can set up a direct debit (that is not always as easy as you think/or would wish)

not only in rural areas, all over there are no 'personal' bins they are usually near to a group of residencies which in my mind is a good idea as it helps to keep the tax very low
