Hi....does anyone know the best (most reliable and doesn't rip you off) car hire company to hire at Malaga Airport (in order to drive to Roquetas)? Thanks.

Hi LeighT

Try the following. Open Google maps on Malaga airport and you'll see the names and locations of most of the car hire companies in the area.

Decide if you want to pick up the car in the terminal or are you willing to save some money by picking a firm that picks you up and returns you by a shuttle bus.

Write down the names on a piece of paper and look up their websites to see if they have a suitable car available and how much it costs.

Alternatively look up a website such as Zest, Malagacar, Rentalcars.com or Carjet. Enter your requirements. Do not leave it to the last minute or you'll be very restricted for choice, and probably won't get what you want.

Good luck

Thank you. What I'm really looking for though is a recommendation on a reliable company as we've been stung once before.

I'm quite capable of searching the companies come up but many of them have poor reviews on trustpilot.

Hi LeighT

Consider phoning the companies which have cars that meet your requirements. Many have WhatsApp numbers which are free, else services like Skype or Viber only cost a few cent/pence per minute.

If they don't answer the phone or are not helpful, (or you get a bad vibe!) try elsewhere and realise that had something gone wrong how you would have been treated.

In general, before you remove the car from the premises, check very carefully for scrapes or damage.  Also do basic checks such as condition of the tyres (including the spare) and wipers, the lights are working and fluid levels are ok. Make sure the renter rectifies and records any defects you find.

Finally, if you haven't already done so, take out "car excess insurance". It'll cost you about €/£50 for a year. If any damage is done to the car during the rental, you'll be refunded the cost. It'll save you up to €15 per day.

Malaga is a 2 hour drive from us in Roquetas. You could try Zest, booking online, we have used them in the UK. But to get more experiences try Trip advisor- there are plenty of reviews there on rental companies at Malaga airport.

Hi,  After many years of renting cars both from Malaga and locally in Almeria/Mojacar, I have found it is almost always cheaper to hire from Malaga airport (where there is more competitive prices) and take the relatively easy drive up the motorway. From Malaga airport I recomend MalagaCar.com and Delpaso who consistently come in with the best prices . Both are just a short courtesy bus ride from the terminal.  In the past on occasion I have taken 3rd party Excess Insurance from brokers or an annual policy but now advise for peace of mind, stress free holiday to suck up the cost and take the Fully inclusive Pack/Premium offered by the car hire company (Not the Broker). It is just a pity that neither of these companies have offices at other airports.
