Hi

I have a flat in Aguadulce and I need to price up some air conditioning as we don't currently have any. Can anyone recommend someone who might be able to help me please?

Thank you

Hi Anna71

Start by looking in Carrefour and/or Leroy Merlin. Both supply and install.

Find the cubic volume (height x depth x length) of each place you wish to install aircon. Add 10% to this figure for each door and window. For example if the room is 30m3 with one door and one window, select a unit that can manage 36m3 (30 + 3 +3).

If any of the rooms are quiet rooms such as bedrooms or sitting rooms, make sure only look at units which have very low decibel ratings.

If the rooms get cold in the winter, select "inverter" units which can deliver hot or cold air.  Most do this.

Generally it is a good idea to select a unit that has a generous margin. If you use a small unit, it will be running constantly to keep the room hot or cold as required. You will notice this in your electricity bill. A larger unit will cost a little extra to purchase, but will use less electricity and will need less routine maintenance

Good luck

Thank you so much for this information which is so useful. I don’t suppose you know any translators or agents that would help me organise this as I don’t speak Spanish and could really use the help? No worries if not, I’ll post separately.
Best wishes.

I went to Leroy Merlin and managed to order the unit and arrange installation with an English speaking member of staff. The installer spoke enough English to get by. I’m happy with the result.

Earlier in the year I used Phil on 699 386 277. He came and gave me what I thought was a reasonable price. That way I was able to discuss options in my apartment. A week later his son came and fitted two units. I am very pleased with the result.

Dear John

I just wanted to thank you for passing on Phil's number - he and his son Alex have been so helpful in advising me and last weekend successfully installed 2 air con units in my apartment. I'm delighted with the result and would recommend them to anyone thinking of having air con installed. Phil also installs UK TV which might be of interest to many on here.

Best wishes

Anna
