Hi All

We are currently staying in Playa Serena for a month, and will need a pre departure PCR test before returning to the UK.

Where are the best test centres in the local area.

That sounds very reasonable, are you sure that is a PCR test.

No it’s a Antigen thought you wanted a Fit to Fly test which you don’t need a PCR for but if you want a PCR ask them as they may do those also.  They do not speak a lot of English

The GOV UK site stated that you have to have a PCR test before returning to the UK, an Antigen test is surely not good enough.

If you are returning,  from Spain,  the Gov would 'prefer' you to take a PCR test, but it's NOT mandatory.

We returned a few days ago, having taken antigen tests (used the place in Mojacar at 50 Euro each, 40 at EV in Vera).

Martin.

I must admit in one set of rules we saw the term you are quoting that the government would “ prefer” you to have a PCR test.

But reading the Gov Uk site with the latest update it is saying take a PCR test.

So this is our confusion.

Did you fly into Stansted on your return and how much do they do checks.

Definitely an antigen test is OK, all assuming double jabbed, travelling back from Spain. (I think single jabbed/no jab is different totally).

We came into Gatwick,  passport into the automates machine, and on our way. The passenger locator form (PLF) is obviously linked to the passport and cleared us quickly.

The main checks are done at the outgoing airport. We had to show our PLF and the test result. The airlines get fined if passengers travel and docs are incorrect.

Martin.

Yes we fly into Stansted and we had the Antigen test from the aforesaid clinic it’s checked at Almeria Airport that you are fully vaccinated and have done the fit to fly test but no checks at stansted. From 4 th October you don’t need the fit to fly but still the 2 Day PCR done in U.K. which you need to arrange pre departure and add ref number onto your U.K. departure form 48 hrs before leaving. But the GOV say later in October this 2 Day PCR will be dropped for a purchased Lateral Flow test. This is what I am hoping as I will be flying back to Stansted late October. Hope this helps
