Winter Flights ex Manchester to Almeria

To be honest Roy..i find the whole winter flight situation a bit of a farce to be honest. Its an Airport in Southern Spain with a high pensioner trade. Granted its not exactly Benidorm so not exactly going to get 5 flights a day but for gods sake come on and wake up,smell the coffee and realise there is a gap in the market to be taken. Since Monarch went boobs up its been really hard ex Manchester in the winter months. Have had this before a few years ago when some numpties in the Spanish government put the landing taxes up and the planes began to fall off. They paid the price for two seasons with that stupidity. Place became really quiet and they stood there scratching their heads. Now I understand the influx of Belgians and Germans into the area hasa always been high....don't let us British suffer !!

My god I should work in the tourism department :)

It’s even worse from Scotland having to get to London Madrid Almeria!!

Hope it’s all worth it going to buy out there will probably fly to Murcia in future.

If you haven't committed to buying the property yet,  then I would seriously think about other areas. The location for travelling back and forth is very important. It is so much better to have direct flights and there are no doubt other areas in Spain that will have much easier access from where you live in the UK.

The problem is that we all fall in love with a property or location and can often become blinkered to whether the area has everything we need. I know as I compromised on not being near a beach (listening to the Agents waxing lyrical about the area  and laughing at me when I said I didnt want to always hire a car for the beach...it's only 10 minutes away by car they said!!) and although I love the location for other things , I wish I had stood my ground and bought a property within walking distance of a beach. I now know the Agents we used did not have any nearer the beach so my advice is to use multi agents and do lots of personal searching to get exactly what suits.

There is always time - No matter what anyone says properties do not sell as quickly in Spain as they may do in the UK.

Yeah I done that once....I swear I could have drove there quicker....Manchester to Heathrow....Madrid to Almeria. The flight I needed took about 16 hours plus the check ins and changeover. Cost me a bloody small fortune for the privilege too :)

Did hear something last year of B.A. starting direct flights from Heathrow to Almeria but have not had chance to look at that as if the worst comes to the worst we either do the Easy jet daily to  Gatwick from Almeria (1 a day in the winter months) or make the trip to either Murcia for Ryan air or Alicante with both carriers into Liverpool airport. Have you thought of that route. Obviously wherever in Scotland you live (lovely country by the way) you have to head south and Liverpool might be a bit easier if you don't mind driving. There is always a way from here home if you don't mind doing a bit of driving either side.

I would imagine once the Monarch business is completely wound up,the slots can be sold on and snapped up.
