Hi John17

Veuling fly Dublin to Almería, change at Barcelona.  It's a bit clunky, but it eliminates the long trip on the bus from Malaga. You'll have to check out and check in at Barcelona. Fares start from just over €100 per person one way.  This is best suited when you can travel light with ...

...just an underseat bag.

You can also travel Aer Lingus/Iberia via Madrid. I don't know times or fares - but if you have checked in baggage, it'll go through to Almería.

Overall travel time around 6/7 hours. Look up the details on a flight finder site such as kiwi.com, skyscanner.ie or gotogate.com.

When you take a routing like this, make sure to have travel insurance in place for each person travelling.

Something to think about, thanks

Fly into Malaga. Pre book a BlaBlaCar Car for approximately 25 euro to bring you to Roquetas or the port in Almería. I have done this 3 times since November 2023 and worked out well so far. You can book cheaper flights to Malaga than Almería 2023. It just takes 2 hours longer.

Hi John,

I’m heading over 19 March again. Got a return flight from Dublin to Malaga for 111 euro. BlaBlaCar booked to pick me up at Airport to Roquetas for 25 euro 😁 hope all goes well for you.

You can fly into Murcia..... don't know if that helps?  What connections there are from there.

The BlaBlaCar is just a few euros more than taking the airport bus to Almeria but it’s taking pot luck on the driver, who is not a professional taxi driver. Is that wise?

Hi Chris

The driver, whether of the airport bus or blablacar, is human just like the rest of us.

There is always the possibility that they have distracting stuff on their mind - family, relationships, illness etc.  No matter how you travel, road, rail, sea or air, there is always the possibility of human error having disastrous consequences.

It's a risk that we take any time we travel.

It’s not at all ‘a risk we take every time we travel’. You have a choice: to have a professional driver in charge - taxi driver, coach driver - or just anyone. You pay your money and make your choice.
