Hi. I used the abagado ( solicitor ) that oversaw the purchase of my property. They worked out how much I had to pay. They then sent me an email with the cost and bank details. Paid it the same day. Job done.

You're welcome. You can probably do it yourself but I suspect you will have to speak very fluent Spanish and the time, hassle and frustration might make you wish you hadn't bothered.

Hi, this isn't as straight forward as has been mentioned on here, especially if you have property in the UK, so I would suggest you get a proper accountant, one that speaks english to do your returns Salvador Tax and Legal are excellent.

Hi Jenni.

I can only go by my own experience. I asked the Abagado if he could sort it. After a few questions he sent everything to their accountant and it was sorted very quickly with no hassle at all. Maybe others have had problems but my experience was a breeze.

Hi Mike,  Just to give you an example.  When we first moved to Spain we were non residents, so had to pay Non residents tax, we did this thru a accountant attached to the lawyer we used. 4 years later and after we become resident, the Spanish tax authorites took without our knowledge 700 euro's from our bank account, for non payment of tax, when we were non residence. We had all the paper work, proof of payment etc etc but to this day 12 years later the 700 euros has never been returned to us. We were told that one box hadn't been ticked by the accountant we used. So all I am saying is go to a reputable company not someone that works in the back office of a lawyers firm.

Have a great new year

That's good to know. I hope I don't suffer the same problem as you. My Abagado has offices in the notary building in Almería and a satellite office in Roquetas, they came highly recommended by others that have used him.

That's terrible news about the service you received.

Hi I used Angela Morales Solicitor in Mojacar for the purchase of my villa in Arboleas. Every year I receive an email stating when and how much my non resident tax is. She does the same for my IBI. I simply pay the money to her Company Bank account and she in turn makes the payments on my behalf. The process is very simple and I can relax knowing I am not falling foul of any laws. She charges Euros 20 per year for this service which I think is very worthwhile and gives me peace of mind.

Hello, a Gestor will do this for you and will charge less than a solicitor.  It is their day to day job.  We use  Carmen Guerra of CG Legal and Finacial.  She is in Mojacar in the commercial centre above the Correos. She speaks English and deals with most financial and admin things including residentia,  driving liceses etc. Her assistant is English and very helpful.  It is worth a trip to Mojacar. Non resident tax is paid annually for the previous tax year.
